The Cost Factor
Author: . A wedding is coming up and you are facing the fact that you may not know how much to give to the couple getting married. Some people have a set amount that they give to anyone. Others have a special gift that they always give to those that are getting married. The options are really endless here and there is no doubt that you should choose the wedding gift that you would like to give over anything less. But, what about the price tag?
The cost of a wedding gift should be dependant on your relationship with the person that is getting married. If you know them very well, then you may be tempted to spend more. If you do not know them as well, then a smaller gift makes sense here. When it comes to etiquette, the only rule is that you spend what you can afford to spend on a wedding gift for the couple. There is no sense in going into debt for the gift.
What They Would Like And What They Need
One thing that should be mentioned is that no matter how much you decide to spend on a wedding gift, you should take into consideration the actual cost versus the use of the item you are buying. If you purchase a very expensive pot holder, for example, do you really think it is worth the cost to you? On the other hand, if you purchase something that is cheap and worthless and the couple ends up tossing it out in a week, is that what you want them to think of the gift they gave you?
In addition, you should spend some time finding out what they need and what they want. A useful gift is a must as it is going to help them to establish their lives together. Something that you know they will need or something that they have requested on their gift registry is the perfect way to go.
It can be virtually anything that you would like it to be, but consider how you can make it meaningful too. There are a number of different gifts that you can give that fit well within this means. Take some time to find out what they need and choose based on how much you needed that item. You will invest money wisely then, and please them too with this type of wedding gift.
